Anyone treated by Dr. Darren Poon at HKSH Hong Kong?
I'm a 64-year-old American expat based in Malaysia with Gleason 3+4 (Grade Group 2), cribriform morphology, Decipher 0.87 (High Risk), and bilateral PSMA PET uptake. Leaning toward MR-Linac SBRT + 6 months ADT.
I've consulted with Dr. Amar Kishan at UCLA and am also seriously considering Dr. Darren Poon at Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital (HKSH Eastern), who operates Asia's first Elekta Unity MR-Linac — the same platform as UCLA. Dr. Poon has a solid published track record and the proximity/cost difference vs. UCLA is significant for someone in SE Asia.
Has anyone been treated by Dr. Poon or at HKSH for prostate cancer? Particularly interested in:
What was your experience with the team and communication?
How was the treatment process as an international patient?
Any toxicity or side effect issues?
Happy to share notes on my own research if useful to others in similar situations.
