@lilyann Hypersensitivity to inactive ingredients
The inactive ingredients (excipients) in different brands of levothyroxine can cause an allergic or hypersensitivity reaction, leading to a rash and itching. Some people with this reaction found their symptoms resolved after switching to a different formulation, such as a liquid or a brand with different excipients.
Itching from a change in thyroid levels
Itching can also be a sign of hyperthyroidism, a condition caused by having too much thyroid hormone. This may occur if your levothyroxine dose is too high
Tirosint capsules do not contain fillers such as gluten, lactose, or dyes, which are often found in tablet forms of levothyroxine. This makes it a suitable alternative for patients with allergies, sensitivities, or absorption issues.
Tirosint has a very minimal list of inactive ingredients:
Tirosint gel capsules: The liquid form of levothyroxine in gel capsules contains just three inactive ingredients: gelatin, glycerin, and water.
Tirosint-SOL liquid: The single-dose ampules are even more minimalist, containing only glycerol and water along with the active ingredient
The "clean" formulation of Tirosint and Tirosint-SOL can be beneficial for certain patients for several reasons:
Fewer allergens: A common reason for intolerance to standard levothyroxine tablets is an allergy or sensitivity to the fillers and binders they contain, such as lactose or cornstarch.

Hei emmanuel, god to hear that your kidneys are doing fine. You mentioned 20 years later it has spread to your lungs. How old were you in your initial diagnose. I am 65 years old, diagnosed March 2025with lung metastasis. I have read that aged below 55 with initial diagnose has a good prognosis than those above 55. I don't know if I read it right. My lung mets is still stable so I haven't start with Lenvima yet. Hope to hear more from you and hoping for the best, You are in my prayers, too.
Hi, yes my markers are improving. I have follicular thyroid cancer. After I had my thyroid removed. 20 years later l found out it had spread to my lungs. I had a lobectomy last May which confirmed the cancer. I see my doctor on 10/28/25 l will know if l can go back on lenvima.
@emmanuel1 Hei, i will have my CT on the 9th of october. And we wll be talking with my oncologist 13. of october. As i mentioned earlier, I am scared but you mentioned your markers is in the right direction. good to hear that the result is positiv. I hope mine will be positive, too. How many days/months have you been using Lenvima. Can I ask again what kind of thyroid cancer do you have. Do you have lung mets? What were your symptims of your kidney problem? I hope to hear more from you soon, and thanks for your reply- BEst wishes and prayers for you, too.
Hi, l am taking one day at a time. My kidney is fine. The doctor wants a repeat of labs to make sure before going back on lenvima. I get the labs done on 10/20/25. Praying the labs are normal.
