Anyone Take One Drug Regimen for Chemo vs combination chemo drugs?

I had mastectomy and axillary lymph node dissection. The Sentinel node had micromastias. The other lymph nodes were all negative. I'm also extensive lymphvascular invasive. My Oncologist prescribed me Taxol as the only drug in my chemo. Most chemo therapy seems to contain a combination drugs to kill the different growth cycle of cancer cells and also to prevent drug resistance.

Anyone also has the same situation that only one drug in chemo therapy?

I would ask your doc why they want to use one. I know someone on taxetere and cytoxin. I know some people do AC then T (adriamycin and the other two), three in all. You can also get a second opinion.

Were you ER+ and HER2-? Did you have an Oncotype?

I would ask your doc why they want to use one. I know someone on taxetere and cytoxin. I know some people do AC then T (adriamycin and the other two), three in all. You can also get a second opinion.

I’m triple positive. In addition to chemo drug , I’m also on antibody drug Herceptin.

I don't know much about treatment for HER2+. I know that Herceptin is sometimes combined with chemo and Perjeta and a new drug, Phesgo, combines Herceptin and Perjeta. I wonder if the drugs that target the HER2 protein are the most important and serve to limit chemo to one-? Definitely discuss with your oncologist!

Age, overall health and aggressiveness of cancer type can be factors in the chemo selection.
There are always options for second opinions. If something doesn’t feel right, run don’t walk and get a second opinion. I did and I was so glad I did.

There are always options for second opinions. If something doesn’t feel right, run don’t walk and get a second opinion. I did and I was so glad I did.

2nd opinion prescribed me drug combinations for chemo. I won’t see my own oncologist until another two weeks and by then I’m already on the 4th chemo treatment. I’m young, overall healthy and with aggressive tumor (Grade 3). It’s why I’m concerned.

2nd opinion prescribed me drug combinations for chemo. I won’t see my own oncologist until another two weeks and by then I’m already on the 4th chemo treatment. I’m young, overall healthy and with aggressive tumor (Grade 3). It’s why I’m concerned.

Resort- the same thing happened to me. Too far along to make a change. I was early stage triple negative and 72 in good health. I was given CMF pre surgery only to learn through 2nd and 3rd opinions that there is no approved treatment after surgery if CMF is given (an error by my initial breast center). I had to consult several excellent hospitals for the right treatment option following surgery. It was determined I should receive taxol/carboplatin. I should have had Zeloda (a pill), but instead had another 12 weekly rounds of chemo.
Keep asking questions until you are comfortable with the answers. Wishing you the very best.

I’m so sorry to hear your story. So many missteps from doctors these days… lots of hugs to you and wish you do well despite medical professionals’ failure!
