Anyone taken Evinity without side affects

Posted by dreamjean1958 @dreamjean1958, Feb 14, 2023

I have a very severe case of Osteriporosis . WS on Forteo a yr . After being on Forteo. Your suppose to be put on a maintainence. I never was . My surgeon out of network. Prescribed Forteo. 2018 . I took for 13 months . My spine Dr . Or someone dropped the ball. I took calcium and Vit D 3 . My bones are now super bad . No medication was prescribed . I have fractured my foot twice in 2022 . 3 months apart. Still in a cast . Has anyone been prescribed Forteo ? Than didn’t get the drugs to maintain bone strength . I’m so upset. A yr of injections and beings the ball was dropped . I’m back at Day 1 . I’m assuming I will be prescribed EVinity . I’m a walking China Doll . Scared to take any of these meds .

@dreamjean1958 I know how you feel. I have 7 spinal fractures.

Have you considered Tymlos? I chose that because the dose on the pen is adjustable so I started low and moved up to minimize side effects. I also have heard that you can take Evenity after Tymlos or Forteo, but not the other way around.

I will either need to take Forteo or Evinity . My understanding is Tymlos will be a choice after I use Forteo or Evinity . I see Endroconologist Friday .

That would be awful . What do they do for Spine fractures ? I just don’t want any side affects . Frustrating that no one put me on anything . They needed to put me on Forteo for 8 more months or Tymlos . Neither was done .

Tymlos is very similar to Forteo so you can use it instead of Forteo if you wish. I needed the adjustable dose possible with it in order to minimize side effects. I have been told it is better to take those before Evenity if you are going to do sequential drugs. Some people can start with Evenity and won't need any more meds but I figured I might need to follow Tymlos with Evenity.

Don't wait for docs to put you on something- if possible. With my docs, I am given a certain amount of control.

Thank you for your response . My endocrinologist highly recommended Evinity for me . Have to get infusions once a month. Then switching to Prolia. I am not thrilled about getting infusions in my stomach at all.2 at the same time. Although last time . It was just 1 nurse . I had a large bruise the first injection. 2 nd month . I haven’t had any side effects . 😊 I can thank my other Drs for dropping the ball on me . When I gave myself Forteo . It never hurt . But Evinity stings and they have to take their time . Frustrating . I hate needles

Agree that Evenity stings upon injection. I’ve had 8 injections, without any significant side effects. I have always had them in the back of each arm. Soreness lasts about 24 hours.

I’ve had 4 injections @ UCLA & 4 @ Penn Medicine, both locations gave injections in the back of the arm…..there was no discussion as to preference. This leads me to believe that back of the arm may be the standard ???

I am on Evenity and get the shots in the back of my arm. Yesterday, I didn't feel a thing but got a little soreness and bump later in the day. I just had my 8th shot. The only thing that I believe I may be getting is ever so often, my knees hurt a little, and I get tired later in the day after my shot. I am very pleased with the Evenity and hopefully it will get me where I can have back surgery.
