Anyone have ribs removed as part of surgery?

Surgery scheduled in 4 days. Doctor says they may have to remove a rib since the mass is resting against it in the pleural. Has anyone had a rib or two removed during surgery? If so, how did recovery and pain go? Wondering cuz I may be able to change course if I can get my local oncologist to go along with the oncologists I saw for a second opinion and agree to do immunotherapy prior to surgery. I would just change cancer centers and start the immunotherapy immediately, but the 2nd opinion center is a 4 hr drive one way and my husbands health wont permit him to make multiple trips back and forth for my treatment. I have to decide what to do, now. I am scared!
