Anyone experienced Laser Insterstitial Thermal Treatment (LITT)
Diagnosed with EGFR Exon 19 cyst in upper right lung in 2018. Lobectomy showed presence of cancer cells on the cut line and metastasis to nearby Hilar lymph node which prompted 33 round of radiation and chemo simultaneously. Two years later, metastasis to 3.2cm diameter cyst above left parietal lobe in brain. Had surgery to remove followed by 4 rounds of radiation to clean the margins. Four years later had recurrence in that area corrected with one more round of radiation followed by brain necrosis 8 months later. Countered that with six rounds of Avastin. I still have drop foot.
My last brain MRI showed a 60+% increase in necrosis area in one image and I'm starting to show symptoms, so my radiation oncologist proposes LITT as well as 4mg Dexamethasone daily due to worsening symptoms. My doctor describes it as minimally invasive with one small hole and I'd be released the next day after keeping me overnight for observation. Does anyone have any experience with this procedure?
