Anyone else diagnosed with ICC - Invasive Cribriform Carcinoma?

Posted by rachelg1701c @rachelg1701c, Jun 9, 2023

Pathology shows my breast cancer was Stage 1 ER+ PR+ HER2- ICC - Invasive Cribriform Carcinoma — treatment was same as IDC - Invasive Ductal Carcinoma —

ICC is uncommon — some studies showing less than 4% —

Anyone else with ICC? Were you offered treatment specific to ICC?

Sending good vibes to all!

Hello @rachelg1701c this is a rare breast cancer but I did find a study. The national library of medicine has a very small study of 12 cases.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6965980/
I would love to sum up the technical and give you my take away. The final sentence of the abstract gives great hope, here it is.
“ In conclusion, ICC, as a special type of breast cancer, has its unique clinicopathological and immunophenotypic characteristics, leading to a good prognosis.”
They did mention it being treated similar to IDC, are they recommending a treatment plan for you?

Hi Rachelg1701c!
I'm so sorry to hear of your uncommon diagnosis of ICC! That's too bad. I know nothing of this diagnosis but suggest you research it through the Mayo Clinic Website. They are very reliable and up to date on treatment. My husband has lung cancer and I have incontinence. Anything that changes with our physical bodies or in our treatment I always turn to the Mayo Clinic besides seeing our doctors. It can really help! The more you know about a situation, the better you can cope with it.

I wish you the best! I'll say a prayer for you.
