Anyone allergic to anastrozole and exemestane?
I have ILC in my left breast. I had a lumpectomy and radiation. I took anastrozole and after 1 month, my cheeks and nose became bright red and my eyelids swelled. It was also very itchy. I was given a steroid. Weeks later I tried exemestane and 9 days later had the same reaction. Anyone else have this experience and if so what did you try next?

I took one tablet of Anestrozole and 30 minutes later, both legs started to tingle and both legs gave out at the same time. Next day my pulse was 150.
Definite rare allergic reaction.
I would have known with your puffy eyes that you had an allergic reaction.
Dr. should have known that.
I have ILC and was on Breckinridge metropole for 17 months Stopped because of extreme total hip pain.
I requested to be switched to Accord manufacturer of Letrozole. Now at 2 year 2 months and 3 months on Acord and am dealing with extreme Achilles tendon pain plus other Letrozole pain.
Hard to walk at times.
I am supposed to go off Letrozole for 3 months and then start Extremesene.
I am afraid to go off Letrozole for 3 months. Am trying to figure this out.
You have given me the clue that I might be allergic too to Extremesene
***There is an article that lists all the additives that are in all the AI’s from all the manufacturers. See if you can google that.
It is possible that we both might be allergic to an additive. .
I am also allergic to 2 kinds of eye drops used to dialate eyes for eye exams. I get the puffy eyes, red eyes, and extremely dry eyes f oh r a week.
You may want to try Letrozole which is supposed to be best for ILC.
I do have the option of the 3rd Letrozole manufacturer to switch to or Extremesine.
My Dr. advised me to stay off the meds until my August appointment. I don’t know what will be next.
I had three allergic reactions while on each of the AI inhibitors. Each reaction sent me to the ER. My lips and tongue swelled, I had severe stomach cramps. I made the decision after 2 years and a half to go off the inhibitors. I carry an Epi-pen and Benadryl in my purse at all times.
Glad that your Dr. has given you a reprieve.
Remember too that what bothers some people with an AI may not give you the same reactions.
I am actually supposed to stop Letrozole for 3 months.
My Medical Oncologist is retiring; and they will appoint a new one that I will see in September or October.
I am still taking it for now.
We have a full house of company this week.
I need to think through all this as I was told that next I would be on Extremesine…..
