Anybody finding that ADT has compromised their flexibilty?

Posted by tjv1156 @tjv1156, 2 days ago

I'm 4 1/2 months ( of 6) in on Orgovyx. In addition to HIT to offset the effects of ADT, I do 20-30 minutes of yoga/qigong/stretching every day. I wasn't that rigorous about doing it every day at first but then I felt a noticeable loss of flexibility so I keep upping the time I do these things.I still feel I have lost a lot of flexibilty even with all the stretching.

It has compromised the pounds of weight I can lift. Muscles have atrophied- shrunk. Sorry never did yoga just leg stretches so I can climb the stairs in our tri- level house.

As long as I can still sit cross-legged to go along with my Buddha Belly, I don't worry about it. 🤣
Strange thing is I'm not gaining or losing any weight. I'm just changing shape.

SAme- my weight has been pretty constant but I'm pretty sure that my muscle has atrophied and gained body fat.

Doing those exercises are not the ideal thing to do when you’re taking ADT. You need to be doing some weight lifting in order to keep your bones in shape, And your muscles. ADT tends to deteriorate the muscles quickly so you need to exercise with weights a good amount every week. I find that if I skip a Friday going to the gym by Monday. I can’t use the same weights I used the previous Wednesday., I have to move down in weights and build back up. The muscles deteriorate that quickly. This was discussed in a recent seminar, Doctor said if you take a three week vacation and don’t exercise you’re gonna find your muscles have deteriorated a lot.

No matter what you do you’ll probably notice that your stomach muscles have given out a little and you’re getting a belly. I do a lot of situps to try to offset that, Since I’m thin, it doesn’t look bad but I know it’s not what it used to be.

the only plus to this life event so far ( for me) has been I lost some weight early on..the ADT side effects plus fear ..affected my appetite..so I went down from aroun 228 to 203 in 2 months..but at 5'10", I needed to losed the weight..I like the way I look now...lost the gut...but some muscle as well...I mean I am not skin and bones like Matthew McConaughey in Dallas Buyers..and really, I shouldnt weight more than 190 or so..but I would like to stay around 200...for now..so can it be ? a bit of silver lining to PC...!

Jeff I think you may have missed this part,
"In addition to HIT to offset the effects of ADT"

HIT is high intensity training. The other stuff is supplemental

Yep, had not heard of HIT before, I was going to look it up and then forgot.

Sounds like you’re doing the right thing.

I’ve been looking at issues with overall survival and it seems that staying in great shape makes a big difference with the prostate cancer, even if it’s advanced.

Unfortunately, my "great shape" seems to be round.
