Any problems with taking Minoxidol and metastatic BC to vertabrae?

I have due to a very stressful events w/ my mom's passing in 2018 quite a bit of hair loss . I was wondering if anyone has taken oral minoxidal.
I doctor specializing in hair loss prescribed it back in October and I have hesitated to take it. My oncologist said it would be o.k. , but I guess I am not convinced....

@rococo325, I can understand your hesitancy and wanting to be sure before adding another medication, even a topical one. You might wish to share your concerns with a pharmacist. They are very knowledgeable about drug side effects and drug interactions. Are you on treatment for the metastasis?

Hi Colleen,
The Minoxidal is a pill 2.5mg. The Cancer pharmacist had approved of its use a few months ago. I still hesitated to start it and that is why I made that inquiry on this site. I have been taking Anastrozole for about a year. I have been doing well on it so far. Just last week I decided after some further research to take a half a pill of the Minoxidal per day, (1.25mg) . The Dermatologist with the focus on hair loss that prescribed it said I would start to see results in about 3 mos. So , not long after that I will have some follow-up CT scan to check my metastatic statis.

You could try topical Minoxidil. It may affect you less than taking a pill. My oncologist prescribed it after being on Exemestane and I experienced hair thinning. It is working pretty well.

my hair loss condition started with an increasingly stressful events. I have been shouldering for sometime a lot of extended and close family matters; some for decades along with BC since 2013 and when my mother passed away in 2018 it was most difficult and literally my hair had a marked fall out and other distressing events not really related to her followed during the pandemic and after. The scalp hair loss is a kind of alopecia & there is a genetic component to it as well. The Topical Minoxidal product kit has other chemicals in it that irritated my scalp and were possibly toxic so I only tried it once and I am just trying the pill for 3 or 4 months to see what kind of results occur with regrowth. Thank you for your input.

Prior to my breast cancer diagnosis I was undergoing treatment for hair loss. Lost hair after first chemo. Oncologist OK'd using Minoxidil after the treatments were completed. I went on 0.625 (quarter tablet). I had to stop the Anastrazole due to side effects and now on Exemestane. Hair thinning is happening. I will check with the dermatology group and my oncologist to see if I can up the dose to 1.25. I have a lot of stressors which doesn't help. Also, having chemo 4 times and then immediately having Covid set up some sort of colitis or food sensitivity. So, my nutrition isn't what it should be. I see GI Dr. today for consultation. My son came to visit this past week. I was telling him about my thinning hair, after it just growing back so nice and curly. He looked me in the eye and said, "I would rather you be bald than have cancer again!" WOW.
