Anyone on Pluvicto (Lu 177), a new drug for prostate cancer?

Posted by dedehans @dedehans, Aug 20, 2022

My close friend has had Pluvecto treatment suggested to him by oncologists. It is relatively new, having been approved by the FDA in March 2022. Have any of you been given this drug? I have read it is radioactive material and patient needs to stay away 6 ft from others for at least 3 days so as not to contaminate them. He has not yet decided whether to take the treatment or not as he is feeling awful enough as is.

Hard candy or mints with xylitol help. Haven't tried the Biotin yet but it was also recommended at Mayo Rochester.

My husband completed his Pluvicto 2 months ago. The dry mouth is still severe. Has anyone had the saliva return?

Received Pluvicto #3 this morning. No apparent side effects from #1 or #2. I was on Chemo (3 doses) and could feel the battle within; since changing to Pluvicto I have returned to myself, in most respects. We each react differently, but this has given me back an active life. Bloodwork after #2 showed lower PSA; 2.3 from 10.6. Bloodwork between #1 and #2 had PSA nearly unchanged. Original diagnoses Jan 2016, removal May 2016, 35 days of radiation July/Aug 2016.

Pretty much the same thing is happening to me....after the second Pluvicto injection, I was having a much harder time recovering from fatigue, malaise, loss of appetite and difficulties evacuating . My PSA had risen from 17 to 24, that's the highest jump I have had so far in my four years battle. My oncologist immediately schedule for a bone and upper body scan to see if more metastatis has occured. I am doing the scans tomorrow ( 2-26 ) . Depending on the results, he will evaluate weather to continue on with Pluvicto or not. I am glad i found your post and others. It is possible that the PSA my lower and rise indipendently from other factors I guess. The only sure way to determine progression lays in imaging.... a bit nervous about tomorrow, but I hoping the results will be ok. Thanks.

My PSA also rose after two treatments. My oncologist and I decided the Pluvicto was not working and cancelled further treatments. Two weeks later my PSA plummeted from 37.6 to 7.2 and then three days later to 5.4

We're back on the Pluvicto treatment schedule.

I will say that the second dose caused me much major discomfort in my GI tract. My bowels and bladder were hard to empty for days. Managed to get past it, but I did think I was finished at that point. Depression, as we all know, is too real now.

My best wishes and prayers to all my comrades out there and their caretakers.
