Any new treatments to prevent/treat ONJ??

I was wondering if the dental profession has any new/proven treatments to prevent ONJ if one has to undergo an extraction or to treat ONJ if it develops. It seems to me that this problem has been known for a long time -- more than 15 years?? -- so are there any new or, better yet, proven treatment protocols? So many of us fear taking bisphosphanates because of the risk of ONJ.
