Anastrozole and Restless Legs Syndrome

Posted by dogmom623 @dogmom623, Aug 1 7:54am

I have been on anastrozole for about 3 mos following lumpectomy and radiation, and the main side effects have been joint pain and some fatigue. I have suffered from RLS for years, and recently I have noticed the symptoms getting worse on some nights, including muscle tensing/foot flexing/inability to lie still. While I know all the RLS symptoms, and have been on ropinerole (Requip) for those, I'm wondering if the anastrozole is responsible for the amping up of the intensity of the RLS. Has anyone else with RLS who is taking anastrozole had this intensification of symptoms?

anastrozole was created by Satan to punish women for offering the apple.!
And it really doesn't do much good!!!

I fired the Dr. who insisted on my taking it.

Yes I had restless legs / joint pain and insomnia on anastrozle Switched to letrozole (supposedly interchangeable) and those symptoms went away in about a month. The side effects really vary from person to person with each drug.

I experienced the same with Anastrozole. Also with Letrozole. I changed oncologists, and the new one suggested Exemestane, every other day. I’ve been on this for 9 months, and what a huge relief and difference. I only now and then (once/week) experience RLS…but also know I’m not exercising enough (blame it on the heat!)…I hope this gives you “food for thought.” I am a believer that change is needed when your symptoms become so rough to endure! Good Luck to you.

Probably; the meds seem to hit our weaken areas. I developed bilateral Achilles tendinitis. Physical therapy helped and new sneakers.
