Amazing video game helped me cope with my illness
Hello,
I spent the last year mostly bedridden and couch bound with a mystery illness. My medical team now thinks it is POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) teed up by the Covid vaccine, then triggered with a Tdap vaccination. But they really don't know. Here's what helped my mental health tremendously being stuck couch bound indoors for a year. I bought a Nintendo Switch gaming system and the Animal Crossing New Horizons game. The reason I am telling you this is because this game allowed me to live life virtually. It truly helped me pass the time while I naturally got better and made me feel like I wasn't missing out on life as much (although I missed my daughter's milestone birthday and the birth of my first grandchild). This game allows you to run around on your own private island. You can go fishing, collect seashells, catch bugs, grow and tend a garden, socialize, go to a coffee shop, go shopping for clothes and goods, landscape and build, celebrate holidays (I got to go Trick or Treating virtually on Halloween), etc. The other characters in the game are kind and supportive. It is a stress- free, nurturing game that you play in real time. You can fly or boat to other islands and play online with other real people if you desire (not required). So if you are stuck at home and are able to play a video game (I'm a grandma and I figured it out), I highly recommend this game. Entertaining for kids and adults. I got mine online at Costco, but most bigger retailers sell it. You can even connect it to your (newer) TV for bigger visibility. If you're reading this, I'm sorry you are sick. I hope you get better soon.

Interesting.
I started playing online computer games in the late 70s (yes, they go that far back), and I found out how absorbing they can be. A little too absorbing, in my case.
But anything that helps, helps.
I lost all my friends online i.e., X, reddit, groups. Games on phone. I tried to recover but to no avail. I'm house bound. I just started reaching out to people online, for socialization. Just venting
Sorry to hear that! But there are lots of nice people here, and elsewhere in cyberspace. Keep looking!
