Am I in rebound?

Hello,

I need some advice. I have been on Prolia shots twice a year for six years. I had to defer my last Prolia shot which was supposed to be taken the first week of April, 2025. I am still waiting for an oral surgeon to give me the ok to get my Prolia shot. I don’t see him till Sept. 18th, 2025 for a consult.
My CTX score last year in May, 2024 was 0.037 ng/mL
My current CTX score in June, 2025 was
0.551 ng/mL

This is a huge jump? Does this mean that I might be going into rebound?
Please let me know. Thank you

Hi @1864wteib - From all of the trial data I have seen, you are approaching the worst part of the rebound effect. I HIGHLY recommend you restart Prolia ASAP. You are at a very elevated risk for fracture.

If you want data to show your doctor to convince them to restart, I put together a presentation discussing Prolia and the rebound effect that you can use https://youtu.be/hnj1tFUAK3M . In the video description is a link to the slides that you can print and share with your doctor.

Good luck!

Are you taking another drug to help with relay during this Prolia “holiday” ?
Mine is a long story but in short I had tooth extraction and implant 5.5 months past Prolia. My periodontist and rheumatologist were more concerned with jaw necrosis than rebound effects so I waited another 3.5 months to get next Prolia, 9.5 months post my last Prolia. I knew I needed to get back on something I decided to stay on Prolia until I could see a specialist. i scheduled an appt ASAP. Unfortunately I ended up in ER with L-1 acute fracture and L-3 fracture the same day I was scheduled for Prolia.
After, much reading I have passed on research articles to others including my rheumatologist, dentist and periodontists.
You can’t miss Prolia without being on another osteoporosis med. Please don’t wait to talk with a doctor/dentist, see someone now! Hope this clear, I’m traveling in a car but felt I needed to respond right away!
