Alvogen teriparatide pen pulling in blood after injection

Posted by medsjl2025 @medsjl2025, Feb 21 5:47pm

Has anyone had any issues with the Alvogen Teriparatide pen pulling in blood into the vial after an injection, it disappears after about a half hour and the medication itself remains clear. In contacting Alvogen they state that while this is rare, it may occur, and they do not feel it is any issue to worry about but then they turned around and told me to discard the pen and they sent another one to me??

Thanks for the post. i hadn't heard of this happening. I suspect that drawing the blood back into the chamber would disturb the molecule. I wonder if the information you received on the phone was incorrect, or if the replacement pen was for your peace of mind. But anyone on Alvogen should take note.

I am required to have the Alvogen brand, but have not been able to find a pharmacy to provide it. Any suggestions on where to check?

I got it at Rite Aid two years ago. Call an Alvogen rep. https://www.alvogenteriparatide.com/savings-program and see if there is a savings for you while you are on the phone. It may be delivered by a specialty pharmacy.

Very odd that you cannot locate a pharmacy to fill the med. Pharmacy's simply fill the script written by your doctor. Unless you are dealing with an out of network pharmacy, but even then, it may just cost a little more, I would check with your insurance plan as to what pharmacies are considered in network. I just had Alvogen mail a pen to our pharmacy as a replacement for a defective pen, all they needed was name of pharmacy, address, phone number and their state license number, just to be sure I also sent them the prescribing doctor name and state license number, it arrived in four days, good luck.

I had to fill my order through Cigna's specialty pharmacy, Accredo. I was not given a choice of pharmacies to use. They sent me Prasco Laboratories' version of generic Forteo.

My apologies. My generic is from Accredo, but not from the manufacture you seek.
