alendronate and no progress
I have been taking alendronate (Fosamax generic) for 2 years. Just had another DEXA scan, and it showed slightly worse bone strength, by T score. My nurse practitioner thinks I should continue with the alendronate despite this. I have been diligent with calcium intake and vitamin D. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

What was your original FRAX score before taking Alendronate?
I have been on Alendronate for almost nine months after two years of Tymlos. I have been experiencing leg pain and I thought that the cause was my walking 10,000 steps/day plus strengthening exercise. I also experience body ache before I get out of the bed or changing position while sleeping. Next time I see my endo, I am going to ask her.
Hi, Sherry. I'm not familiar with a "FRAX" score, but more lower spine T score was -3.3 before starting alendronate.
Hi, that's interesting, as I have had various leg pains, and also hip pain when in bed on one side. I didn't connect it with alendronate, but maybe?
Same. It ends up making your bones more brittle. Do research before you stay on it. This is my opinion.
May I ask if you take holistic drugs or another drug?
No drugs, just supplements now.

I was going to call my Endocrinologist to ask if she could point me to some studies that show success rates for Alendronate (generic Fosamax). It will be interesting to see what the office tells me.
ok. I wonder why holistic methods are not prescribed first? I know this drug has been out for a long time, but why does it still have a bad reputation? That's my concern...that long term it could make things worse. I'm going to continue to research as much as possible.
