Aftermath of colon surgery.... Vitamins?

Posted by tabithatwitch @tabithatwitch, May 25 2:50am

I had two surgeries within one year. The first one in October 2022 and the next one in September 2023. The last surgery I had 5 inches of my colon was removed. Now 8 months later, I can really only eat about 12 things with success. I haven't had any luck with vitamins though. Someone suggested I may want to try Mary Ruth's liquid multi vitamin or another organic liquid vitamin. Has anyone have any experience with this brand or something similar? Thanks

I wonder why you are having this problem. I am 84 & had 6 inches of my colon removed 2 yrs. Ago (& 5 operations in 4 years! Not kidding). I think I would look into this effect to see if it is normal. I wish you the very best of luck.

Morning Tabithatwitch. I’m on the same page as ppat4pr, cannot come up with a logical explanation on why this is happening. I’m 74 had 7-8 inches of sigmoid colon removed two years ago. Never looked back. Any comments on this from your gastroenterologist?

I am glad you are not having any issues with your surgery. But I think everyone's body responds differently to these types of surgeries and to some people the post operation condition isn't easy to talk about and quite personal. I am on a long waiting period to see a Gastroenterologist -scheduled in November. When the long waits are complained about, the response is to "go to the Emergency Room" So I have been trying to solve this on my own I guess

What’s the reason for the inches removed?
