After Lupron Depot, which med?

I've been given Lupron depot at a 12-week dosage (22.5mg, into the butt), but still have significant side effects of over a dozen hot flashes per day -- and it's been 25 weeks from that injection.

I would like to know the consensus on which oral medication is widely prescribed in cases needing continuous ADT. Do they all have the same side effects and can they be dosed-down to reduce side effects? Is testosterone level commonly measured on a regular basis?

I had 25 RT sessions along with ADT (7 monthly shots of Lupron). I just switched to Orgovyx (daily pill that is supposed to have a quicker recovery period) and will continue on that for a total of 24 months or I can't take it anymore. My PSA dropped from 9.54 to 0.09, 3 months after Tx started and then again 3 months later to 0.06. The Rad and ADT side effects for loss of libido, fatigue, hot flashes were almost immediate. Then came the genital shrinkage, ED, muscle loss, emotional sensitivity (cry at the drop of a hat), and low self-body image. I think guys have different levels of side effects as any ADT takes away our testosterone which effects all of the above.

Insist on baseline measures before any Tx so you can see the changes the ADT is doing. I never got a baseline T level or DXA for bone density. Finally got a low T level and a DXA -there is substantial bone density loss. My Endocrinologist is recommending treatment which may stop or lessen the bone density loss. I've learned you have to advocate for yourself and keep yourself informed in these areas. Good luck man because we're all going to need it.

I switched from Lupron (an agonist) to Orgovyx (an antagonist) when the side effects of Lupron became unbearable. Orgovyx was definitely better and wore off very quickly when I stopped taking it. It still wasn't a picnic, but it was at least bearable.

I had an awful lot of hot flashes from ADT. At first I found drinking a pint of ice cold water really helped but then my oncologist put me on Depo-provera shots Every three months and my pot flashes almost stopped.

After that, I went on a Zytiga and it brought them back, though Not as strong as before.

Then I found out about the embrlabs.com wave product. I’ve used it for Over three years now. It’s like a refrigerator that looks like a watch and sits on the inside of your wrist. When you start to feel a hot flash coming on, you hit one of the buttons twice and it sends cold chills through your arms and it reduces the intensity, shortens the life and can stop the hot flashes if hit quickly enough.

It has a mode for use at night that sends cold waves for seven or eight hours but much less frequently. I used to have a terrible time waking up at night with the sheet soaked under me, That has never happened since I got a wave device.

There are other hormones that I have heard work. Speak to your doctor about it.

Some people can get acupuncture and it works.

I’ve heard from a couple people that eating tofu daily works for them.
