AFO brace
I have end stage OA in my right ankle. My ankle is crooked. I do have pain and am being fitted for an AFO brace on Monday. The surgeon said this is the best option and that the brace will take the pressure off of my foot, thus, relieving the pain.
Honestly, I can't wait to get the brace.

@cindysummit Did you get your ankle brace? I have arthritis in my ankle after a serious fracture that was 4 years ago. I started wearing high top shoes to support my ankle and that helps. I did some fascial stretching too to even out the tension between the weaker side of my leg and the stronger side, and that helped. I have been able to do some hiking, and if I get pain, my podiatrist put a patch with steroid and pain medication on my ankle that stays on for 48 hours. It does what a steroid injection is supposed to do, but without the injection because the medication moves through the skin.
I was not that fortunate. I am in stage 4. The brace has not come in yet but any day now...will keep you posted. The patches I used, honestly, were useless. Motrim helps a bit but I used it sparingly due to kidney issues.
Thank you for remembering and writing. Really appreciate that!
