Adrenalectomy for MACS
Summer 2025 I had an adrenalectomy due to a functioning mass on it causing Subclinical Cushing Syndrome (a.k.a. MACS). I was in adrenal insufficiency post-op & on Prednisone, but after a few months my remaining adrenal gland started working normally again so discontinued the Prednisone.
After my adrenal gland recovered I started Physical Therapy x2/wk for 5 months to help regain muscle mass & strength and conditioning. After 5 months of PT my muscles are stronger but I still get out of breath easily with exertion and am tired all day every day, even with a good night’s sleep.
(I was in cortisol excess for many years (had the adrenal mass at least 21 years but no Dr ever worked it up until 2024).
I know it’s been just 9 months since my surgery but I’m wondering if any of you who have had an adrenalectomy because of a mass causing MACS (mild autonomous cortisol secretion) continue to have fatigue and shortness of breath almost a year after surgery?
Thank you!
