Adenocarcinoma Bone Cancer

Posted by cobia80 @cobia80, Mar 9, 2023

Very worried about my sister as she has been diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma bone cancer.
I feel her oncologist is not giving her the proper treatment nor information.
She specializes in breast cancer not bone cancer.
The Oncologist told my brother in law that my sister would have to be on Dilaudid pain pills the rest of her life and the cancer is terminal.
My sister had radiation on spine, hip, upper femur, and several smaller areas.
She is currently on chemotherapy.
The cancer apparently started in her breast (no cancer there) and metastasized to her bones.
All of her organs, lymph glands, blood…etc…is absolutely fine.
I would like to have my sister get a second opinion…is this too much to ask?
Is anyone here know of Adenocarcinoma bone cancer?
I have done some research and the prognosis is up and down.

Thx,
Bobby

@cobia80, I can see that you are very concerned for your sister. She is lucky to have you researching for her.

Adenocarcinoma is cancer that starts in the glands. Breast cancer is a common type of adenocarcinoma.

Adenocarcinoma can spread to the lungs, brain, bone, bone marrow and other organs.

It sounds like your sister has been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer that has spread to her bones. Bone metastasis occurs when cancer cells spread from their original site to a bone. Some types of cancer are particularly likely to spread to bone, including breast cancer and prostate cancer. Bone metastasis can occur in any bone but more commonly occurs in the spine, pelvis and thigh. Bone metastasis may be the first sign that you have cancer, or bone metastasis may occur years after cancer treatment.

How is your sister feeling?

Thank you…She has had a real tough time in the last 7 weeks since she rushed to the hospital due to severe pain in her back (metastasize to her spine, femur, & several other places). Currently she’s back home and her legs have swelled. A week and a half ago her oncologist had her PA administer chemo & did nothing about her legs…I begged my sister to have her legs checked out as fluid was leaking from her calf’s. She went to her oncologist’s other office (was seen by a different oncologist…original Dr was to busy to see her)) yesterday… not sure of results.
