Accepted to the CSF Clinic. What to expect when I'm there?
Please to say that after viewing my medical records and images, Mayo Clinic (Rochester)CSF Clinic has accepted my case. I have to say that I thought it would take much longer to get in, I was surprised to get in so soon. With that, I have my first appointment next week to see Dr. Gaza. Blood work scheduled the following day, a Brain MRI scheduled the next day and the myelogram scheduled for Thursday and Friday. It shows on my itinerary that I am scheduled to see a neurosurgeon on the 21st and then a follow up telehealth visit a few days after that. With that, I am assuming that no treatment will be done while I am up there. Can anyone give me any insight on what to expect while up there? How long to plan to be there (roughly), what to pack while traveling there (I'm about 9 1/2 hours from there). I appreciate any advice, thoughts, suggestions, opinions. Thank you 🙂

@deedles7088 Congratulations on becoming a Mayo patient. My first appointment there was for a consultation for spine surgery and they got all the tests and exams done in 3 days. I returned home, and about 2 weeks later when the surgical nurse was scheduling surgeries, she called all the patients on a list to fill out that schedule. I don't know what is involved with the CSF Clinic, but all my encounters at Mayo have been very efficient. They have the ability to schedule other testing and exams based on what they find while you are there. I presume that Mayo works this way because they are a destination medical center with many patients traveling for care.
This discussion may be helpful and there are useful links in some of the posts about finding hotels and the Concierge service. I like Candlewood Suites. I like to get a hotel with a full kitchen and it includes dishes and cookware. They also can lend crock pots. I have a lot of food allergies and issues, so eating out is not easy for me, and I can fix meals in the room. They are about a mile from the Clinic and have a free shuttle. If you are driving, you'll have a car, so you can stay anywhere. You can buy a weekly parking pass for Mayo parking ramps to save money over paying the daily fee. The closer hotels are more expensive, and they all have discounts for Mayo patients. Rochester has a Trader Joe's and Hy-Vee grocery stores. The Concierge can help you with information about anything in Rochester.
