Absence of Septum Pellucidum

Posted by parkerjean @parkerjean, Feb 25, 2022

I have many diagnoses but the Drs say nothing but clinical status. I have sent for a DNA sequence report, thinking a lot of my problems are genetic. Has anyone used this testing to try and isolate several unexplained problems and if so were you enlightened or find it was waste of money? Looking for answers for twenty yrs.

Hi @parkerjean, I wasn't familiar with absence of septum pellucidum and found some information on the condition on the Genetic and Rare Diseases Information Center website here - https://rarediseases.info.nih.gov/diseases/9253/absence-of-septum-pellucidum. I did the Mayo Clinic GeneGuide test and thought it was pretty interesting and provided a lot of health related information. The question on if it's a waste of money probably depends on what questions you are tryiing to answer and how bad you want to find the answers.

There are quite a few different discussions on genetic testing if you want to go to the Connect home page ( https://connect.mayoclinic.org/) and type "genetic testing" in the discussion search box. There is one discussion that may want to glance through to learn what others have experienced.
