Abiraterone (Yonsa): Did it affect your liver function?

Posted by gbrickler @gbrickler, Feb 23 8:56am

I have been on Yonsa 500 mg sid and Lupron for 12 months. Great results relative to my stage 4 cancer: scans show remission, PSA < 0.4 consistently. On Jan 4 ago my liver function enzymes were elevated (AST 350, ALT 400) and remain in that range. One oncologist has recommended stopping the Yonsa until the liver enzymes return to near normal. Has anyone has a similar experience and what actions did you take. I am feeling very good, no apparent liver disease symptoms.

gbrickler, I'm providing my experience with abiraterone+prednisone.
My two, liver function test results went from pre-abi numbers to high and then falling, below, in 2024:
pre-abi > 1/23 > 1/26 > 1/30
ALT: 17 > 201 > 178 > 103
AST: 21 > 125 > 98 > 51

After the 1/23 results, my provider (a medical oncologist at a center of excellence) had me abruptly discontinue the abi (and over a week weaned me off the prednisone).

Is there more you'd like to know?

F.Y.I. (if you don't already know), I just got this from Mayo Clinic today:
