7 percent Saline
I am getting ready to start 7% saline solution and since I am an old Dude wondering if anyone has any tips on how to get used to the stronger dosage. I have plenty of 3% just in case I run into issues of it being too strong for my airway at the start.

I heard it is useful to mix your new solution with the 3% you already have. This allows your lungs to adjust to the stronger salt level gradually.
Also, you can use the 7% one day and the 3% the next day. You can fact-check that with your local pharmacist.
What I know is that it takes time to transition, so don't rush.
I don't know if you use levalbuterol before the 7% but when I started nebulizing that I was able to tolerate the 7% without triggering a cough. I'm not sure whatthe medical explanation might be for that, just my experience. Best of luck!
and if 7% is indeed too harsh for your lungs, you can always try the buffered 7% (PulmoSal).

Where and how can we get PulmoSal?
I think it prevents the bronchi from spasming.
Your pulmonologist needs to write a prescription for it. They usually don't have issue about it. I believe they might just not know it exists.

Thank you.
I began nebbing with 7% about3 months ago. I found it very harsh, couldn’t stop coughing. What I discovered were three things that really helped. 1) In the beginning of the nebbing I breathe gently and not too deeply. Later in the session I increase to deep breathing. 2). During the session sips of water after coughing helps. 3) If the coughing is too much, I find nebbing with a cough drop really helps. I use amazon sugar free menthol cough drops. They also help me when unwanted dry cough grabs me.
Hope this helps.
