Has anyone with smaller breast size had 5 day breast radiation as opposed to 15 days?

i guess i qualify. Before surgery i was very large; after partial mastectomy and reconstruction i’m a small/b. did 5 days of radiation. it was quick and really not. that hard except for the anxiety. i’m 10 weeks out. slight hardening but not really very noticeable in cancer breast; nipple slightly darker. followed directions.. putting on lots of lotion daily. was pleasantly surprised. loved my doctor and the staff.

I’m sorry but I’ve never heard of this for smaller breasts such as myself.

The most important part of the treatment plan is targeting the tumor bed or the area where the tumor was removed. The size of your breast should not come into play. ♥️

I agree! I did 5 day just because that was my preference. Less stress. The dose (6 Gray I believe as opposed to like 1 or 3 gray depending on how mnay times you go 16 or 21 with boosts at the end like last 4 days) was higher each time. I wanted less
Times needing to go. No issues at all. Just my own mental stress.

Agree with @lisakinpa. targeting the tumor bed is what matters.

I agree! I went 20 days and can’t imagine just 5. My concern too is is it enough to treat where the tumor was, and I would want assurance that the five day was efficient.

Radiation duration is based on the level and condition of the targetted area to be treated.
It is not depended on the breast size
