14 CM PNET w/ one year post resection. When will I see reoccurrence?

I had a very large PNET removed (14 CM) along with my spleen, adrenal gland and 21+ lymph nodes (4 were malignant the other ones were so matted they can't tell how many more were/may have been) Stage 3 Ki-67 3%. One year post resection and so far NED. What is the average length of time for recurrence?

Hi! I had a 1.8cm pnet, with 6 of 8 lymph nodes positive at the time of surgery. My KI is 6.7 I am currently 3 years post diagnosis and 2 1/2 years post surgery. Aside from surgery and continuing 6 month MRI surveillance,(I have had no other treatments )I too, ponder your question on “when”.
My next MRI is this Friday, and I get so much scan anxiety… not for the procedure, but the results. I know that whatever may or may not be happening inside my body is already potentially occurring and that finding out as soon as possible is the very best thing. …But I still find myself so, so anxious….It is a nerve wrecking experience for certain. I find I tend to live between the scans, I am able to breathe easier for about 5 months before I start thinking about the next scan and then building anxiety until the scan and results.
Having had 6 of 8 positive lymph nodes, I am a realist, and know it is not a matter of “if” but “ when”…..but as of today, I am 2 1/2 years post surgery and until I am told differently, I am still disease free. Best of luck to you on your journey and getting your answer to your question. But I hope your”when” is a long long time from now🙃

Yeah my surgical oncologist literally told me it’s a matter of when it comes back not if! But he says we will just keep cutting it out! I trust him more than my oncologist because he shoots me pretty straight when it comes to worst case scenario and the realities of it all.

At 14 cm and 3% ki67 that thing was most likely there a loooooong ttime. The fact that it did not get to the liver yet tells me it was super slow growing too. No one can tell you when it will come back but you're history seems like good news to me. Are they using a ga68 pet scan c an to monitor?

I was diagnosed with a 2 cm grade 2 with Ki67 4% in the terminal ileum. I underwent a R-hemicolectomy in March of 2022. 19 lymph nodes were remove 11 of which proved positive for the disease. I have MRI's & CT's every 6 months. In September of 2024 a 1.1 cm tumor was found on my liver, morphologically consistent with metastasis from my known well-differentiated NET. In January 2025 I underwent a Microwave ablation of the liver mass. In February 2025 my PET scan shows good post ablation changes to the right hepatic liver mass without evidence of residual or recurrent tumor. I had a follow up MRI in May 2025 which confirms the PET scan. In late August i will have an additional MRI & CT, fingers crossed. This is something that we must live with, keep positive thoughts and count your blessings every day.
