@gravity3. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is done by a mental health therapist trained in that method for posttraumatic stress disorder. That's what I know about EMDR and the evidence for it. I don't know of anyone who uses EMDR for anxiety.
EMDR from the National Center for PTSD:

There are lots of other methods for anxiety that can work. I use a combination of challenging my irrational thoughts and breathing. Here's what I've been doing and it helps me cope with anxiety:
1: Awareness of my surroundings.
2. Pay attention to my thoughts. Rational? Irrational?
3. Pay attention to my feelings. Where do I feel the emotion in my body?
4. Breathe. I breathe in to a count of 4, hold for a count of 3, and then breathe out for a count of 4-7. The counting helps me to focus on my breathing so that my mind won't wander away so much from what I doing.
Repeat 1-4 as needed. If I'm waiting for a medical appointment or procedure I do this over and over again. I notice it brings my anxiety down a few notches.
