Is it risky to have a scope done?

There are “one time use disposable bronchoscopes”. But I don’t know about endoscopes. From what I read, it depends on initial cleaning of bronchoscope followed by sterilization in cidex solution for a few hours. The initial cleaning using a brush can miss bacteria if all steps of procedure are not .followed. You might want to check with your gastroenterologist regarding your concerns.

I did find information on one time use endoscopy scopes as well. In the long run there would less contamination and improved outcomes with disposable scopes.

My pulmonologist said he uses disposable and permanent. The video for the
disposables is not as good.
