I have osteoporosis in my spine as well. After implementing some exercises to stress the bones and adding bone building supplements in addition to continuing with a good absorbable calcium and ultra k2 + d, my last dexscan showed no significant changes. That was a win in my opinion and I hope my scan will show improvement.
I would strongly suggest you not become sedentary during the winter. It's critical to continue with exercises that build bone and do them regularly, not just once a week. There are plenty of bone building exercises you can do at home. Look up Margaret Martin or Dr. Fishman - both have exercises that can be done at home.
One thing I did was purchase ankle weights to increase the load since I am a small woman. I also have dumbbells ranging from 3 to 10 lbs. to add upper weight. I do these on days I do not play tennis or weather doesn't permit outdoor activities. If you live somewhere where you can access stairs, going up and down stairs is also great exercise - anything that is weight bearing.
Best to you!
Good morning and thanks for your reply. 9214 ft. Wow. I live in MN on the Mississippi River which can get pretty frozen, Was your diagnosis based on a DEXA scan? Does that mean your legs, hands, and other test areas did not reveal osteoporosis? Do you have an endocrinologist or other medical professional? If so, what recommendations have they mentioned? How is your PT going? Do you do any stretch Yoga?
When you say that you are not currently on any medication, have you been at any time? What information are you seeking to manage your condition and protect or grow your bone?
May you be safe, protected and free of inner and outer harm.
