My oncologist at Mayo said it will take about three weeks to get the results; it’s been about 9 days so far. I’ll get back with you once I get the results. Thanks for asking!
Colleen, I’m still learning how to post on this site and may have sent my response to the entire group. 🙄. I should know in about two more weeks and will let you know. I really like that I will be ahead of the curve if cancer cells are found thanks to the test. If I had to rely on a scan it could be 12-18 months before those cells are seen. Amazing!
Hi Colleen - I got the test results in a little less than three weeks. Much to my shock and that of my oncologist it came back negative! This was a real big deal. If we hadn’t double checked to see if there were any cancer cells I would have likely gone ahead with chemo which would have been very challenging since I have had a total gastrectomy and am working on gaining weight. Now I have six months of being cancer free which is a wonderful relief, I will retest in six months.

I’m a Signatera client. Company is Natera . They Obtain a sample of BC tumor or node and draw blood done at oncology appointment. Within a few weeks they analyze the tissue and establish a DNA profile. Blood draw every 6 or 3 mos. In onco office or phlebotomist sent to your home by the company… free of charge… The blood is analyzed for circulating DNA (ctDNA) related to your tumor. I have had 3 … thankfully NEGATIVE… draws/results.
If positive it may represent 12-18 mos before a scan would detect . That is the reluctance of use… how to treat?
My oncologist would schedule a PET AND likely prescribe a medication like Verzenio , Kisquali or Ibrance which have long been used in Mets arena and now being used in primary treatment in non metastatic arena.
It’s comforting to get a negative result … but adds stress awaiting result.
@anjalima Thanks for sharing! I’m in Canada and not impressed so far by the process. Any tips on finding a US doctor who supports Signatera? Obv I would have to pay out of pocket. Thank you! Terrified of recurrence if I can make it through this first round (stage 1, lumpectomy so far, ++ -, 38 yo).

I currently live in Dallas Texas. My daughter and I have been contacting Natera in California by phone and email for about 6 weeks looking for a Dr or clinic that has the test kits. The response is they will look into and get back to us but they haven’t. My daughter also lives in Italy and was able to get the test done there quickly and got the results in 3 weeks. You wouldn’t think it would be so difficult to get this done in the U S.
It was very expensive in Europe. I haven’t been able to confirm a price here.
Waste of time and $$. I had the Signatera test done 7 times - every time in came back negative. But guess what? My TNBC had returned but the test said negative!!! No more Signatera for me and my oncologist agreed!!

Very concerning! I’m sorry you had false negatives ( known risk with test). Definitely cannot be the only thing one relies on. Symptoms ARE EVERYTHING and we need to be hyper vigilant regarding this dreaded disease!
I hope you are able to get the treatment you need to address this recurrence. Best to you🌸

Yes it’s a horrible disease and we have to stay on top of everything!! When I took the Signatera tests, I had 7 negative tests leading up to my 1st reoccurrence. Now I am dealing with my 2nd reoccurrence less than 1 year later 🙏🏼

I’m so sorry to hear this. Hoping you are in the best of hands and will be clear of recurrences going forward. 🌸
