It was found by my OBGYN, at first it was a cyst on the vaginal side and they doctored that. Then it came back and she sent me to a surgeon. I also saw a surgeon to remove hemorrhoids and they decided to do all of this during the same surgery. When we went in the surgery, they did a biopsy and found it to be Anal Squamous cell cancer. Now I have a port in and waiting for appointments for chemo and radiation. I was hoping someone who had been through this would give me some ideas as what to expect.

Im so sorry. That must be frightening
- Even if you had a good idea of what to expect.
I had surgery for my Lung cancer so have never had either chemo or Radiation, but I can imagine I would be scared.
Can I ask how old you are? You don’t have to tell me… I just like to visualize who I’m “talking” to. How are you feeling at this point?

@blac I can see how worried you are. How many polyps were found and removed during your colonoscopy 2 years ago? The number of and type of polyps results in the recommendation in when to have your next colonoscopy? What’s the recommendation? In 3 years? Sooner?

I haven’t had colorectal cancer but I have had 1 cm polyps retrieved during a colonoscopy that resulted in the recommendation for more frequent colonoscopies. Every 3 years for me.

I recommend that you call your primary care provider’s office and make an appointment. Have you already done that? The way to set your mind at ease is allow your doctor to look at what you found and help you to decide what to do. Will you do that?

Yea the last time ,it was only one polyps that was found and it was lesser than 1cm,
I would love to do another but presently where I am they don't have such facilities,
And cannot afford the procedure for now, may God help and have mercy on me.

I am a 73 yr old female. They told me my last resort would be surgery as I also have had an open heart surgery, pacemaker
installed, hip replaced, foot surgery an Osteoporosis from neck to bottom of my feet. The Lord has blessed me with a wonderful daughter to help me through my appointments, when they get started. I know I will probably lose all my hair, but I dread being sick the most.

I’m really confused. I think we have two message threads going here. One posted originally by @blac and another by @terrymayo50 - and I think I may have mixed up replies ..
Apologies

I have anal cancer, the Squamous Cell type. The port has already been installed and waiting for chemo and radiation. Has anyone else had this type cancer, if so, please tell your story.

Terry , I was diagnosed with anal cancer stage2 after growth was removed from my anus. April 2023. My treatment was 28 days of chemo and RT. Had a PET scan in November ,I am now cancer free.
My chemo was oral except for 2 infusions day 1 and 28. RT was labor intensive. Trying to have an empty bowel and a full bladder for RT was a day full of challenges.
After 28 days of RT cumulative effects set in. Intense swelling of the genitalia and anus. I experienced 2 weeks when it was necessary to take pain medication.
Expect to be reclining during this period. Sitting is very difficult.
Just like child birth when you get a cancer free diagnosis it was all worth it. Praying for you and a speedy recovery.
