@jdiakiw
What's the frequency of these treatments? Did they mention number of treatments for results?

I've had cold laser treatment from a chiropractor that I was seeing. I have burning/tingling/sharp pains over a good part of my body and have been diagnosed as having SFN. The severity and locations of the pain change all the time. It doesn't fit into a stereotypical neuropathy which leads me to think there might be some kind of autoimmune thing going on also. Anyway, I had cold laser therapy for probably 6-7 weeks at 3 times a week for 5-10 minutes for each area being treated without much if any success. This is my personal experience other people might have better outcomes.

I was diagnosed with characteristics of SFN in both feet (determined by punch biopsy at Mayo) in September 2023. Also tried cold laser therapy and ECST (Electrical Cell Signal Therapy) with a local chiropractor. Sold as a 2x week, 12-week program. Was able to obtain treatment in smaller chunks than the 12 weeks. Made the decision to pause after 9 weeks because did not see enough progress. Do believe it helped with circulation and maybe some of the "buzzing" feeling in my toes. However, the downside was the cost. Very expensive ($315 per session) and did not provide dramatic improvement or relief. Looking to replace the treatments with home-based tools but have not done enough research on available tools for the moment.

Mine was 60$ a session with a $50.000. Machine.

I was told by two neurologist sometimes the EMG and nerve conduction test are not accurate. You can have neuropathy and it show up months later on the testing. That’s what happened with my hands. The EMG/ nerve conduction test showed negative. I kept cutting my fingers no feeling and kept getting stitches. Then it showed up positive on the EMG/ nerve conduction test months later.

I wonder if he was wrong too, but he’s a pain specialist who treats people with neuropathy all the time. I guess I can try to get a second opinion, but my symptoms are less severe now than when I first saw him.

Even if I do have it, the remedy would be to correct the cause I guess. So, I’ve already lowered my A1c, if that was the cause.

And if long covid caused it….I’m not sure what you do but treat the symptoms. And, so I’d want to treat the slight numb feeling. I really don’t have pain. One thing everyone who examines me agrees on and that is that I have full sensation and good circulation.

I wish I did know for sure.
