Periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) experience?

Posted by hipdysplasiadancer @hipdysplasiadancer, Jun 17, 2023

I am a professional modern dancer with hip dysplasia and a torn labrum. An arthroscopic repair of the labrum will not last much more than 1-2 years because of the degree of dysplasia. A periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) has been recommended by several doctors and I am curious about others’ experiences, especially those of athletes. My main questions are:
-Have you had a PAO? What was your experience?
-Who was your surgeon?
-Recovery time (days in hospital, days until walking, days until physical therapy, etc)
-Are you an athlete? Or, do you know (of) an athletes who has had this procedure?
Thank you in advance!

Have you gotten any other information or gone through with this procedure?
