I would love to know how to get started with a safe exercise program that includes increasing flexibility. I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in 2020 and have lost strength and a good amount of flexibility. I used to be extremely active. Any advice would be appreciated!!

Hi @sboes, I also have stage IV lung cancer and was diagnosed in 2020. The targeted therapy treatment has been a life-saver for me (literally), but it's also taking a toll on my muscles, ligaments, and time to recovery after soreness or injury. My YMCA has been welcoming and encouraging. There are group exercise classes ranging from flexibility and strength, yoga, cardio, etc. The classes that I have attended are filled with welcoming friendly members of all ages and abilities.
I was fortunate to be introduced to my local Y through a program called 'Livestrong at the YMCA'. Without the program, I'm not sure that I would have taken the first step through the door of the Y, but I'm so glad that I did! I was always someone that exercised alone, but that's certainly changed now. The program was free to me and was a great boost to my confidence in starting a regular exercise program. Searching Mayo Connect for 'Livestrong' will return posts from other members that have participated in the program.
