Seeing a hepatologist, liver doctor, will give you some answers. They will probably do more tests to find out what is going on. AFP is a tumor marker used to detect cancer and the probably the reason your doc gave you the referral. It is only one indicator though and they will need more information for any diagnosis. Still waiting for the clinic to get back to me with an appointment date with the specialist. I'm really worried if it's cancer. Hopefully it's nothing much.
