Had diarrhea for well over a year.
Taking Slippery Elm which helped for a while But now diarrhea back again. Any suggestions? Other prescription medications, etc. do not work. BRAT diet is not effective either.

Yes.
I had diarrhea after I started taking Eliquis. One of my doctors said to try Meta Mucil - it has really helped. I take 1 tablespoon in water in the morning and 2 tablespoons in water at bedtime. The doctor did advise to take take Meta Mucil 2 hours before or after taking prescription medications
You have IBS-D
Google that and you will get some ideas how to help .
Immodium works well .
I have that plus 7 other gastric disorders ..
It’s horrendous. I feel for you .
Thank you. I will keep that in mind as I search to find a cure!
Two years ago had weekly diarrhea. Had a colonoscopy which revealed I have some diverticulitis and showed no traces of microscopic colitis which I had four years prior. Doctor said it was basically related to aging as I was 83 at time and I just had to get used to it.
Six months later diarrhea became more frequent and eventually became daily. Could not get appt with gastro and a friend suggested I check for gluten intolerance. Gave up bread in one day and daily diarrhea went away.
Over next six months have had occasional diarrhea and adjusted food trying to find cause. Now for past two months back to weekly diarrhea for which I use imodium.
Will take some metamucil to see if helps.
So at a healthy 85 could be just old age.
For me, Benefiber has stopped my several times a day loose stools and frequent gas. I use the gummies but the powder is cheaper. The powder must be taken 3x day, has no taste and can be mixed with food or drink, even water, without tasting it. Of course there are no doubt causes (like C-diff) that require a doctor’s help.
The Steroid Entocort worked immediately for me!
I’ve had IBS issues for several years. Imodium does help.
Recently I’ve tried Acupuncture for the IBS after having my sciatica successfully treated by acupuncture.
It seems to have helped. I think it slows down the movement of food in the intestines.
The downside of Acupuncture is that it’s not covered by Medicare.
@sharleneh is that a topical medication, or oral?
I take thee pills a day orally
for 8 weeks, then taper two pills for two weeks then one pill for two weeks. Then try and maintain with a Biologic, Entyvio.
