I had very high chromium and cobalt levels within 5 years of my implants. My heart, thyroid and nervous systems were all affected. I lost nearly half of my hair, developed severe tremors and had muscle wasting in both thighs. The tissue around the implants was the consistency of "gray oatmeal" (the surgeon's words.)
My metal levels fell to normal within six months of removal of the offending hip implants. My thyroid disease resolved, my heart rate returned to "near normal" and my hair grew back. All I had left was a nasty tremor, but one I had a 70% chance of developing anyway because of family history.
I did TONS of research, and there is no scientific evidence that any form of chelation or detox would speed up or improve the process. Please, reconsider the concept of a detox. Your body will excrete the heavy metals after the source is removed.

@sueinmn , Hello I am new to this topic of metalosis b/c of hip replacements with cobalt parts. I am currently waiting for results from my cobalt test, as well as waiting to find out what brand of prosthetic was used in my replacement. I have a request in for info from the ortho office . I am 18 years post right hip replacement, and I have a lot of issues you read about with cobalt toxicity. Besides right thigh and hip pain , right leg weakness and cramps, I have a weird feeling of heat that keeps encompassing my right leg. I also have broken capillaries on the top of my right thigh which are not on the left leg.
Currently I have hypothyroid, Very dry eyes and blurry, dry skin, getting really wonky in my thinking (that's a technical term), depressed, migraines (which I never associated with the hip replacement ) but only showed up after I had the surgery. Regular headaches, painful arthritis in hands and neck, urgent and frequent urination( my body trying to get rid of the cobalt??) , Extreme thirst, hot flashes with sweats which have been increasing in the past year (I am 65). So with all this , have you heard of these particular symptoms being part of the toxicity?
Thank you!!!

@sueinmn
I have 5 metal allergies diagnosed via a blood test and thus canceled my knee implant surgery.
If you haven't had your blood detoxed medically I want to share about an at home heavy metal detox.
I also have several forms of eczema, Grover's Disease, GD aka Transient Acantholytic Dermatitis, TAD. On the Mayo site blogging about GD in Feb 2019 I learned about the success of others detoxing heavy metals and putting their GD into remission. My angel was a blogger going by Kimass1 who in Feb of 2019 mentioned that some sufferers of GD believed this form of eczema was caused by heavy metals. Cilantro consumption was one way to detox at home. I had just begun a new outbreak cycle, normally lasting for 6 months and so I blended up 1/2 a bunch daily and chugged this tonic down daily for 3 weeks and began noticing a reduction GD papuales. After 2 months I was convinced of improvement, after 3 months no new papuales and so I drank this tonic,- 1/2 bunch cilantro with about 1/2 cup of water for a total of 6 months. Today 6 years later still no outbreak. As a precaution I usually ingest a bunch or 2 of cilantro a month just in case. No I don't like the way it tastes. But pain is a serious motivator in taking "my medicine". Heavy metals are tied to Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and to Grover's Disease. I don't know why my medical professions don't recommend a simple at home detox.
