You might consider an adjustable frame for your mattress. Placing something to slightly elevate your knees while on your back or between your knees are while on your side can also be useful. Both these adjustments can put less strain on your back.

I have one that I purchased to relieve some of my snoring/apnea tendencies .. it’s great.
