@skhagen

Hello all. My therapist sent me this link to help me deal with chronic pain.
I was diagnosed with OA when I was just 35 years old. I am now 53 and have underwent multiple bone surgeries and four cervical spine ablation’s.
Trying to deal with chronic pain daily has caused me anxiety, stress and depression. It affects my relationships with my family and friends. Mostly because I’m exhausted, drained mentally and physically.
I try extremely hard to push forward!
As there are no treatments for OA other than surgery on the affected joints. I tend to obsess about what my future looks like. I remember my great grandmother was crippled from OA. Those memories have created an overwhelming fear for myself.
My hope is that this group will help me deal with chronic pain better.
Thank you

Welcome to the greatest informative support site I have found (and that’s saying a lot.)
First, if you don’t have one already (the one who referred you?), get you the best, most compassionate, open pain
Specialists in your area you can find. 🙂

I don't see the link.

@skhagen I am so sorry for what you are dealing with. We are here for you to listen and for those who have similar issues they will share their knowledge and experience. Welcome!

@skhagen Interested in the link from your therapist but don"t see the link can you repost it for me as my O.A. is getting worse in my hands. Thanks

@skhagen
I think you need a support group first and foremost. Until you can find a better one, this (Mayo Connect) should serve you well.

I am very very sorry to hear about your OA (assume you mean osteo arthritis correct?). I have only had ordinary arthritis before and none currently, but I know how painful what I had was, and my case was MILD compared to many such as yourself.

As Erika has recommended you will most likely find others that suffer from arthritis in the Bone Joint and Muscle group that she provided the link to. I want to wish you the best of luck in meeting others here who can offer you not only good information but perhaps some meaningful relationships as well. Within the first 2 months of being a member here I made some very good friends. But not only can you interact with others in real time, you can also find a lot of useful info in older discussions, they are all saved here and awaiting your reading pleasure. In fact I read about 160 pages of older posts before I ever posted myself. It can be fascinating and very informative.

I hope you can find relief from your pain or at the very least some good ways of coping with it.

My best to you, Hank

Dear skhagen, my heart is heavy hearing about your suffering. Although my situation isn't exactly the same as yours, I can relate to pretty much everything you've said here. The only thing that gets me through is my relationship with Christ and His peace that surpasses human understanding. Also His presence and comfort in my life. We all walk through many fires in this temporary life. I never lose the joy and assurance of the promises we have for our eternal life in Christ, no matter how hard it gets. Until then I keep pushing through like you do. I will uphold you in prayer asking God to relieve your pain permanently! Warmest wishes, Sunnyflower. 😊🙏💐
