Fat Pad Heel Syndrome

@celia16

I have fat pad atrophy on the bottom of my feet, but not the heels. I must always wear shoes and ensure there is sufficient padding under them. I think the heel is a more sensitive location, though. I’ve recently lost some weight, but I can’t say I’ve noticed it helps with that. I guess less weight will make a difference.

I asked one podiatrist about getting fat injected into my pads, but one said it wasn’t possible. I had read it was possible…so, IDK…..no podiatrist has recommended it to me.

Did they say what kind of injection?

No but it’s suppose to be for my atrophy. I read about the fat being removed from another area and injected to the feet as well. I doubt my doctor does that. Also read that this is not reversible 🙁. Will post an update after my appt.

Celia16 I saw my podiatrist yesterday. I was doing to discuss getting a shot since he told me I had fat pad syndrome last visit. He looked at my left foot as I've been having more pain in that foot. He pressed in a few areas and then told me I don't have fat pad syndrome I have tendonitis in my heel. Very painful to touch. He made an adjustment to my new orthotics and added a small wedge in the bottom of the heel. Also he wants me to purchase heel cushion inserts similar to Spenco.
Very relieved my diagnosed was reevaluated to tendonitis.

Good luck with your ongoing treatment and hoping you can find a doctor that will help you to a painfree resolution.
