Taking Slippery Elm which helped for a while But now diarrhea back again. Any suggestions? Other prescription medications, etc. do not work. BRAT diet is not effective either.

I was prescribed brunosonide( which is the wrong spelling) and that did nothing to alleviate the problem.

@pb50, and all...Hello, my friend. I had diarrhea for years, often hitting me suddenly and always when under stress. Not a good thing to deal with and tough on the body. I'm sorry you're dealing with this...

I used Lomotil regularly as needed. And do now if it occurs, rarely.

A wonderful doctor at Mayo Florida told me to try a probiotic that's for colon support. I was taking a probiotic from the drugstore, but this one is very different. It's Probulin, a colon support supplement. I buy it online now at the Probulin website, also available on Amazon, but I prefer not to use Amazon when possible.

This was a life-changing day for me! I will always be thankful for this doctor. This probiotic helped me almost immediately. I was amazed at the fast improvement and the extent of the improvement. From the first days I took Probulin, my gut was happier, my diarrhea was under control and I began living a very different life. I do occasionally have loose stools depending on my diet, as I'm sensitive to milk products, but I'm now 76 and eat a controlled diet for my overall health.

Several months ago, I began having constipation issues due to taking an iron supplement for low ferritin in my bloodwork and anemia. I saw a Mayo hematologist who put me on a different iron supplement and I have far fewer constipation issues. I also now use Milk of Magnesia regularly which is gentle and easy on my system and works well for me.

Yes, I went from years of diarrhea to a couple of years of constipation with occasional diarrhea. Fun! But, that was due to my system and my iron issues, not to the Probulin. I suspect most folks will not have that experience. I highly, highly recommend this product.
Check with your gastroenterologist and take one capsule every night at bedtime. Your gut, your body, YOU will be grateful!

Blessings as you walk this journey...Elizabeth

I will thanks. I went through about 3 month course of Budesonide which was a life saver for me in terms of stopping diarrhea. Diagnosis was Collagenous type of microscopic colitis. The constipation I manage now is due to statin I take. I use stool Softener and 3 benefiber gummies to manage that.

I heard that there's a parasite that can cause diarrhea, so doing a stool test for Dientamoeba Fragilis might make sense. Apparently, this parasite is common and not always treated, but if you have symptoms and have the parasite, you can see if treating it helps you.
