Zytiga for Prostate Cancer

Last MRI after L2 radiation July 2021 and 3 months zolodex showed small 2 cm tumors being scrubbed away or starved as well L2 just scar from radiation

1 1/2 year now and feel great Cant stand long period At night my scolders and arms tingle when on back sleeping but CT scan determined neck pinching nerves so sleep on side and use cradle pillow

PSA up Oct 13 to 4.22 then 2 weeks later 5.32 has me concerned Next Zolodex Nov 28 Have call in to medical oncologist Will keep you informed 78 last Sept

BTW enjoy my chardonnay 2-3 glasses Hope its not affecting PC

I've been on Zytiga for 60 days. PSA went from 1.2 to .1 in that time. PSA Mar 2022 was 83.4. Thanks Zytiga. However, some of the decrease can be attributed to after effects of IMRT (39 sessions that concluded 7/8/22) and Lupron.
I am fortunate that Mayo is willing to work with the VA. The VA copay for Zytiga is $8.00/mo.. I hope you can find a less expensive option.
I have good days and bad days due to side effects, Staying active is important but difficult. Today I feel like crap but the results are worth it.

My husband started treatment for stage IV prostate cancer in July
Lupron injections monthly and Bicalutamide. In October he received the 3 month
injection and started Zytiga. He seems to tolerate the Zytiga better with less side effects,
hot flashes are still extreme at times.
However, the PSA count went from 67 to 28, now up to 37.8 waiting for next test at the end of the
month. Can't really say if the Zytiga is working better or not.
Wait and hope !

I’m trying to find out the common side effects. It’s a quality of life issue as I am already 79, Gleason 8, GG 4 w/seminal vesicle and one lymph node involvement. Tryin to weigh probability of survival of ten more years vice crappy life.

Gleason 8 4X4. 80 years old. On Zytiga 9 months. Can't say I notice much. Maybe I'm acclimated.

Zometa isn't that much fun. Lots of fatigue. Lupron is no fun in any manner, shape or form but it's part of the deal.

Busy in my workshop. Walk the dogs. Play an easy game of squash.Enjoying what I've got.

I certainly don't expect 10 years. Three or four good ones maybe. Something is gonna get you.

hello I am 77 have been through 2 years of lupron, 39 radiology vists I am reaching the end of lupron . what happens next is up in the air the radiologist missed the boat and I may go back ( to a better radiologist) and some salvage radiation. whatever is next is beyond me at the moment

Hi ten years I am wondering where that time frame comes from.

That is god news to me on the VA covering drugs prescribed by Mayo. I am no longer going to Phoenix Mayo because of insurance issues (Medicare Advantage) but hope the VA will work with my eventual care provider. Will have to check into that! What a difference, $8/month versus 10k to 11k per month. What a stupid health care system we have.

My husband was diagnosed in 2005 at age 58 and has been Stage 4 for many years. He started Zytiga in January 2020 and it kept the cancer in remission for three years. After some spot radiation and ablation, he starts Pluvicto treatments later this month.
