What is the opinion about diet and cancer. My 78yr old husband was recently diagnosed with lung cancer.Questioned theSurgeon about articles I read that emphasized following a plant based diet. The Surgeon felt there weren't enough studies.

Very true. Go with what works and in time it’ll get better.
I have not had chemo or radiation therapy, but I helped care for a dear friend in the past that fought breast cancer for 10 years. She had extensive chemo, RT, and a bone marrow transplant. I understand how difficult it is to eat when undergoing treatment.
Dr Li's book "Eat to Beat Disease" has extensive food and beverage lists that support each of the 5 defense systems against disease. He recommends selecting one food or beverage from each group each day, preferably organic when possible. Some foods and beverages are on multiple lists, such as green tea, black tea, and coffee.
Best wishes for success with your treatments.
