I also have back pain, mostly on my left side between the shoulder blades. Burning, aching, stiff. What do you do to help with the pain? I walk everyday and stretch and use resistance bands every other day. Helps temporarily. I hate to rely on Tylenol and/or Advil but some days it’s the only way to get through the day. Have you found success with anything?
I have posted on different places about my experience with Evenity but in response to your question, the adverse effects I experienced from Evenity-joint/muscle pain, spasms, gradually went away after about 6 months after last injection. I went into Evenity as a healthy 66 year old, with osteoporosis, who is pretty active (skiing, mountain biking, walking, hiking) and never had any pain before Evenity. I thought I had ruined my health as I could barely move after 11 months. The pain started at about 6 months and I decided to push through. I quit after 11th month. My gains in all three sites took me out of the osteoporosis range. My spine improvement went from -3.8 to -2.1 which is great. I started Fosomax after Evenity and all negative effects started to come back. I switched to Actonel, 1x/month, and am doing fine. Mild aching and no negative effects to date. Hope this helps. I did read that with Evenity the best bone building results are achieved within the first six months. If this is true, I would have stopped after month 6 or 7.
So sorry to hear your increased side effects from Evenity. I had to stop after 5 doses due to increased Blood Pressure and palpitations ( both I never had before). I was told by my Endocrinologist that I needed to take either Reclast or Fosimax to " lock in any gains that I had". Unfortunately I had a DEXA scan right after I stopped the injections and had no improvement. I was not surprised because I had no improvements with other medications I have tried. All of us our unique in our journeys with OP. I am also very active- walk 4-5 miles everyday, practice yoga and am taking Alendronate ( Fosimax) at the moment. It took almost 3 months for my side effects to lessen. I hope you have the same. All of these medications cause side effects and you need to take the time to decide which is best for you. I am looking at more " natural" approaches to dealing with my OP. Again I wish you much support with your journey.
