John, I guess I responded to the wrong person in this thread. Fortunately I don’t have this issue just PN due to spinal issues.

i’m curious to know How it was determined that your PN is related to spinal issues.
My neurologist at Mayo has never mentioned that as a possibility. And I have all sorts of spinal issues.

My radiographs show that I’ve got bone spurs at my facets which when inflamed cause me pain. When the temp gets cold I feel it. When it rains I feel it. I’ve got spinal stenosis too which adds to the pressure placed upon nerve roots coming from the spine. If you look at a dermatome chart (https://www.google.com/search?q=dermatomes+of+lower+limb&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari) you can see which nerve is associated with the numb area of your lower limb.

Compression Sox help me with the pain and burning, especially at night. Sometimes I even sleep in them. Also I use a cream that has CBD in it and it helps with the burning and pain. It depends on how much CBD is in the cream.

I sleep in compression socks and rarely have peripheral neuropathy and when I do the pain goes away quickly.

I have Peripheral Neuropathy and take 600mg Gabapentin at bedtime ordered by my Neurologist. This dose was helpful by decreasing pain in my lower legs enabling me to sleep at night. I don't have pain in the day time.

I was advised to wear compression socks for mild edema in my lower legs and ankles. They don't help with my very occasional neuropathy pain--but they do sort of cancel out the constant numbness and feelings of constriction in my feet. Without the socks I always feel like I'm wearing thick, tight socks. With them-I essentially feel normal. I have to remind myself to occasionally take them off.

Compression socks are one of the wonderful things that help us to keep moving.

Good day!
I’m a 65 year old male who is recovering from Covid, pneumonia, pulmonary hypertension and severe autoimmune immune deficiency disorder. The road to recovery has been a long journey.

I find that Compression sock therapy is extremely effective for neuropathy. Although it may be uncomfortable in the beginning over time you might agree that It increases blood flow and circulation by 35% if used properly.
I have varicose veins in my right leg and currently taking Eliquis aka Apixaban.
Every month I have a Scan of my legs and my spider veins are starting to disappear.
I’m scheduled for Radio Frequency Ablation surgery in the month or two.
I wear thigh high compression socks with a toe cap with a 30-40 mmg mercury level.
I’m on the maximum side of compression range.
Yes the socks are a bit uncomfortable to wear, I have a tendency for dry skin since the material is polyester and it dries out my skin. You have to line up heel cup and toe box perfectly otherwise you will have difficulty getting them on and over your ankles plus the challenge of pulling them all the way up to the thigh crease, in the correct manner. The flip side is taking them off and that imposes additional challenges. Mainly technique if you are not fortunate to have a caregiver or family member to assist.

I wear my socks for about 5-8 hours every day and don’t sleep in them. I have a second pair of compression leg sleeves for nighttime use. These sleeves have a 15mmg of mercury compression which is at the lowest level of compression.
My diet, mainly my sodium intake, affects the intensity of my neuropathy .
So sometimes in order to get a healthy nights sleep I wear these 15 mmg of mercury compression sleeves. It’s wear the sleeves or sleep with a pillow between my legs.

Lastly Movement is a key component for recovery and reducing the pain. If you don’t use it you will lose it. Even though it’s painful and uncomfortable to walk around and move you have to force yourself to do it.

Hello @francis333, Welcome to Connect. I have neuropathy but only have some numbness in the feet and legs. I have to wear compression socks but it's for another condition - lymphedema in the legs. My compression socks don't make the numbness go away and I'm sure they probably don't help if you have neuropathy pain either. I'm also thinking that if you have swelling in the legs that could add to your pain so it's probably a catch-22.

Do you have neuropathy? What have you found helps you the most?
