I am scared of doing Chemotherapy but already did second opinion and exactly the same treatment with my first doctor was advised. I just need some positive vibes.

I would have these symptoms for avg of 11 days after treatment. Please take time to rest. I know sometimes I pushed myself especially after surgery which wasn’t good thing. You’ll get there. I know my diarrhea was the worst as it would keep me up most night. Follow drs recommended ways to deal with it. Like taking diarrhea med they prescribe. For mouth sores, I got oncology mouth wash from Amazon which would give some relief. Praying for you!

Yeah, me too, about 11 days, although I still have heartburn and burping a lot. So I guess I'm looking at the next 5 treatments going the same way? Thank you, I thought I was the only one.
I will take the meds and try to rest more. Thank you!

Hi @kayanonsen, those sound like particularly rough side effects. I thought I’d check in to see if some of the symptoms have lessened. Did you learn anything helpful from your virtual appointment earlier this week?

Hi, thank you for asking, and yes they have lessened. Lasted about 11 days, and now I have some gut problems and fatigue, but much much better. Oncologist just said that everyone is different so its hard to predict, but nothing was alarming or surprising. Next treatment is this friday the 5th and she said maybe your first was the worst. Oh my hair started falling out a couple of days ago. I think I'll get a wig for occasions when I need to look like I don't have cancer. I wish I could go through this without any other responsibiliies. I wish I could stay in bed and get up to move around or get a glass of water. I wish someone could come in and check on me during the bad days and provide help/care where I need it. It would be a lot easier. I don't think I would have gotten as sick as I did if I had been able to rest. But that's life and life is still preferable. 🙂

@kayanonsen, if I recall correctly you are also caring for your son who was in a motorcycle accident and your sister has cancer too. I wonder if some of the things you wish for, especially someone to come and check in on you and provide assistance like light housework or care would be possible. There's an organization called Breast Cancer Angels serving Southern California that may be able to direct you to such a service. Check them out here: https://www.breastcancerangels.org/

I would also talk to a social worker at your cancer center. They can help connect you to services that can take a load off here or there. Read more about oncology social work here:

How are you doing with the second round of chemo?

Hello and thanks for checking in on me. That is great information and I'll pursue all of these support groups. I wasn't aware of any of them and this is great stuff. My sister died in October, breast cancer metastasized to lungs and brain. I was diagnosed in September, so it's been a very tough time. My son lost his leg, and a lot of the use of his left hand, and his vision is now only 18%.
My brother was here for my second chemo treatment and that was great. He helped Ron to make a beef stroganoff in the slow cooker we got for Christmas.
My second chemo was better, I learned to go home and rest and eat small, cold meals. But day 3 I had to get the immune booster shot and it was the most awful thing, such incredible pain and violent vomiting. I'm still very weak and can only get up out of bed for a few minutes. That shot was on Monday. The oncologist said she will put a plan together for me.
I would love to get up and change my sheets and tidy my bedroom, and clean up the kitchen, but I am too weak. Maybe tomorrow. I am feeling better after sleeping all day today.
Thanks again for the info. I really appreciate it.
Kay
