Anyone on Pluvicto (Lu 177), a new drug for prostate cancer?
My close friend has had Pluvecto treatment suggested to him by oncologists. It is relatively new, having been approved by the FDA in March 2022. Have any of you been given this drug? I have read it is radioactive material and patient needs to stay away 6 ft from others for at least 3 days so as not to contaminate them. He has not yet decided whether to take the treatment or not as he is feeling awful enough as is.

I just started my first round of pluvico. I opted for no chemotherapy because it made no sense to me to kill off the good with the bad and hope that the good comes back faster than the bad. Pluvico made sense to me because it is targeted, hitting only the bad. So far side effects are minimal - slightly more fatigue, and constipation. The worst part is isolating myself from loved ones. I have a dosimeter/Geiger counter at home and am getting higher than expected readings after being sent home. If you choose to go with this treatment I urge you to monitor it with your own dosimeter and not just believe the generic stories about staying 3-6 feet away from adults for three days and a week from small children. I may end up isolating myself for two weeks or more based on actual dosimeter readings as I definitely do not want to cause any collateral damage to my loved ones, family, friends or caretakers.
Get my third shot on January 11. I’m very happy to be in the program there’s always something new and exciting coming along. That gives us guys a little more hope and gives us a lot more time. Actually the side effects have been mostly good bad side effects or other issues that I’ve had with my health five and myalgia and arthritis. This isn’t as scary as it was 24 years ago. When I started had the operation came back over 100 chemo radiation on chest arm and back. Several times went through all the drugs. They all stopped working and here I am still alive leading a very nice quiet life with my family can’t golf but that’s not a big deal. Happy new year one and all.
Good for you! Every day is a blessing.
I just got second round of Jevtana (carbazitaxel) and so far no significant side effect. I heard same thing as to it being better tolerated for most
My husband had 4 treatments. It seemed to be working because lymph Mets were shrinking and PSA reduced. Suddenly his PSA jumped and a scan showed the bone Mets were growing. Treatment was halter. He is now waiting for word whether he qualifies for a clinical trial aimed at advanced prostate cancer. We had high hopes for Pluvicto, but we have heard it does work for many. I'd advise giving it a try.
Is anyone in this group in the Novartis trial for LU177. This trial is 6 treatments of pluvicto prior to chemotherapy. My husband finished all 6 in early June of 2023. He is doing very well, although labs from his 9 month post treatment are not back yet.
We would like to know if there are others in the trial and how they are doing?
I missed the trial as it was full They got me on Radium 223 as my mets is just in the bones Second injection 27th Feel great No hair loss or other affects like chemo
Had to go through a year of Xtandi first to qualify as its $9k and injection
If it fails then chemo PSA did go up to 14 in last 6 months after Xtandi stopped working
On Zolodex and Xgeva needles every 3 months
@tania27, I believe @dwpoole @vocalek @donalan were on a clinical trial for LU177 (Pluvicto). Glad to hear your husband is doing well. How are you doing?
Pretty much the same thing is happening to me....after the second Pluvicto injection, I was having a much harder time recovering from fatigue, malaise, loss of appetite and difficulties evacuating . My PSA had risen from 17 to 24, that's the highest jump I have had so far in my four years battle. My oncologist immediately schedule for a bone and upper body scan to see if more metastatis has occured. I am doing the scans tomorrow ( 2-26 ) . Depending on the results, he will evaluate weather to continue on with Pluvicto or not. I am glad i found your post and others. It is possible that the PSA my lower and rise indipendently from other factors I guess. The only sure way to determine progression lays in imaging.... a bit nervous about tomorrow, but I hoping the results will be ok. Thanks.
Missed Lu trials Getting second injection Radium 223 on 28th Xofigo
