I had DCIS had three surgeries to get a clear margin. I really had very little pain and felt fine after 3 days. I am going through radiation now and experiencing some fatigue with it. I would contact your Dr. On your extreme fatigue. Hope you feel better soon.
I’m 60 and in pretty good shape had lumpectomy/dsci on left breast and reconstruction on both breast in April, margin were not large enough- so second surgery 3 weeks after…first surgery I recovered very well second surgery took me quite some time to recover. then I went directly to 15 days radiation … took over a month for skin to heal, and fatigue. I was tired by about 3pm. Your body is healing- remember that. Keep up with your stretching and walking (or what you do). It does seem to help.
Hi
I do have fibromyalgia so I am sure that's part of my fatigue
Thank you
I get it, yesterday was my 8 th day and chilled for a minute at 12:30… woke up 4:30!!! Wow… not “ me” at all, “we” are healing!! I feel better today, well rested.. merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to you
Glad you mentioned this. I have chronic pain/fatigue so for my lumpectomy I announced I was going to bed for a week (well, I include some exercise and puttering and reading but mostly DOWN). I knew I wasn't going to bounce back after three days, because frankly a flare can put me to bed anyway. Count in anesthesia, trauma, pain and stress and I knew I needed to take it super easy. I think in your case the fibro is an important factor--not to give up on improvement but take it slow. A week is not that long to recover--watch out for fever etc. or anything worrisome post-op--but I think you can give it some more time before being too concerned. Of course check in with your doc as needed. Happy holidays--hope yours are peaceful and healing.
Hi
Thank you so very much for your response. glad to know that I just need to take time and not worry about people's expectations of me. I also have a compression fracture in my spine. Which it was tolerable, but since surgery i'm having a lot of pain again very frustrating. I am doing my walking in my apartment building. So I use the stairs and go up to the sixth floor and walk on each floor twice. Merry christmas to you also.
Hi
So I am 6 mths post treatment and the fatigue seems to have gotten worse. Finally got a new gp he did blood work now showing anemia . My oncology coordinator ordinator of a support group i belong to said it can happen from treatment but to see an endocrinologist. So I wait again for an appt. Very depressed with feeling so unwell for so long.
Glad to hear from you but sorry fatigue continues and worsens. Treating the anemia should really help. Have you started treatments? Or do you need endocrinologist for that? Is there anything in your daily routine that can help the fatigue? I hope things improve, and as you say, it really is depressing to feel ill for a long time.
Hi
Thank you. Yes I have started taking treatment for the anemia. The gp said it will take at least 4 mths. I just feel crazy lately.I just want to feel better so bad.I don't understand why i've had this set back. Good news though my 1 yr mammogram is cancer free.
